Experience Hands-on Building Systems Training in Technology Center

Tuesday, August 31st, 2021

What pairs best with an efficient technology system? A team that knows how to utilize it – which is why Egan Company is not only an installer, integrator, and service provider, but also our customers’ system educator!

At Egan, we know that our role doesn’t end after installation, but rather it transitions to provide assistance and direction for operating building’s systems. To provide the best training, we open up our Technology Center (where we train our own union trades staff) to offer customers and other groups the chance to learn how to utilize their systems in a controlled setting. By tailoring training curriculum to meet the needs of each groups’ systems, customers leave knowing the ins and outs of their specific applications.

Within Egan’s Technology Center, many building systems and solutions are on display, including:

  • Fire Alarm System (Notifier)
  • Access Control
  • Intrusion Alarm
  • Video Surveillance
  • Building Automation

The benefits of learning your own system in a real test environment are exponential. With many of these systems, testing and learning a system within a facility is risky and requires off-time. Take building access control systems for example, by learning the system at Egan, facility managers and engineers don’t have to worry about compromising the system or changing the access of everyone within the facility. One step further, if teams are trying to train on the fire detection system at their facility, they run the risk of accidentally evacuating the building when it’s not necessary. By training in our Technology Center, customers can pull the fire alarm without running any risks.

What kind of groups need systems training? The answer is simple: anyone and everyone with a building technology system! From maintenance crews and city fire departments to engineers and architects – Egan Company provides interested customers with systems training that adds value. By choosing Egan, building teams are not only setting up systems, but also themselves for success with in-depth, essential training from the experts.

What Are The Benefits Of A Preventative Maintenance Agreement?

Thursday, August 12th, 2021

A maintenance agreement provides you with the peace of mind that your facility will remain in good working order. By implementing a preventative maintenance plan, a relationship is strengthened between customers and Egan Company as a service provider to complete routine maintenance.

Preventative maintenance agreements are similar to a vehicle’s oil changes – dependent upon a time or usage interval, you service them to ensure they are working correctly. Changing the oil in a vehicle ensures that it will continue working properly; similarly, preventative maintenance keeps elements of your facility working properly.

BENEFITS OF PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENTS:

  • Preventative maintenance largely increases reliability. By keeping your equipment in good condition, efficiency and lifespan are both improved. Doing so decreases potential unscheduled downtime of equipment, keeping your operations moving.
  • Service agreements also increase long-term cost savings. While the upfront costs may be more expensive, having a preventative maintenance agreement in place will save money in the long run when repairs are needed. Also, costly downtime is decreased as many potential problems are identified and fixed during regular maintenance servicing.
  • In the event of an emergency, customers with maintenance plans are always prioritized and receive immediate attention.
  • Routine maintenance increases workplace safety overall by ensuring that equipment is working correctly.
  • Finally, preventative maintenance agreements assure code compliance and adherence to required inspections

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT VARIETIES:

At Egan Company, our preventative maintenance agreements cater directly to the needs of your facility. With the advantage of multiple union trades under one roof, we are able to provide you with a comprehensive maintenance agreement including:

  • Boilers
  • Building automation systems and energy services
  • Electrical
  • Fire / life safety inspections
  • Mechanical and HVAC
  • Multi-trade
  • Plumbing and drain cleaning
  • RPZ
  • Security

Look to Egan Company for your preventative maintenance plan. Our expert team will enhance performance, reduce costly downtime, and extend the lifespan of your equipment. Preventative maintenance programs are in place to inspect, test, and replace the products in your facility, keeping building inhabitants safe.

What Are The Benefits of Prefabrication?

Tuesday, July 20th, 2021

Streamlining your project by utilizing prefabrication capabilities has a number of advantages. By bringing the work that is traditionally done on site into a safer, controlled environment, neither weather conditions nor jobsite considerations can halt the project progression – keeping your project timeline on track.

PREFABRICATION BENEFITS:

  • Controlled space – work is done in a safe environment
  • Increased quality of product; QA/QC of prefabricated assemblies is done in the shop
  • Reduced crew on the jobsite (less occupied parking, break space, tools, less hiring and orientation, etc.)
  • Reduced deliveries and storage required on-site – prefabricated systems are shipped when needed
  • Reduction of wasted materials
  • Easier trade coordination with reduced task durations
  • Lower overall total cost of installation
  • Constructability issues identified sooner
  • Work is simplified and standardized

Egan Company provides prefabrication with a multi-trade in-house advantage. Prefabrication projects are completed within our local facilities with access to the necessary resources on-demand. These shops are prime examples of our investment in process improvement – through preconstruction planning, our CAD system/virtual construction feeds directly into our fabrication equipment, improving quality and saving time and cost in a controlled environment.

Why Do You Need Bipolar Ionization?

Thursday, July 15th, 2021

The road to cleaner and healthier indoor air begins with bipolar ionization technology. Bipolar ionization is an air purification process that works to deactivate airborne bacteria. This process improves filter effectiveness, indoor air quality, and eliminates odors at their source.

HOW BIPOLAR IONIZATION WORKS:

Let’s break this process down. As air flows through purification tubes, this technology releases charged ions, energizing the air and creating bipolar (both positive and negative) ions. As a result, millions of positive and negative ions are created, causing airborne particles to cluster. The charged ions disrupt the bonding of bacteria cells effectively deactivating them.

ADVANTAGES OF IMPLEMENTING BIPOLAR IONIZATION:

The list of reasons your facility needs bipolar ionization technology is endless. First and foremost, unlike many other air purification processes, bipolar ionization replicates a naturally-occurring process so it doesn’t leave an odor nor is it harmful to facility inhabitants. Throughout this process dust particles, bacteria, and anything else floating through the air is diminished.

Second, installation of bipolar ionization systems does not require HVAC systems to be re-engineered, but rather can be installed directly in the ductwork or air unit. Since there is no filter to change, maintenance is necessary less frequently, only occurring when ionization tubes need to be replaced.

WHO NEEDS BIPOLAR IONIZATION:

Bipolar ionization units are a great option for event centers, housing complexes, schools and universities, churches, commercial businesses, labs, and beyond. Any facility that seeks to provide clean and healthy indoor air to its inhabitants is an optimal candidate for these services.

NEXT STEPS:

Egan’s team is here to help you create a healthier environment and mitigate the spread of bacteria and dust particles through ionization services. Making bipolar ionization a priority for your business frequently goes hand in hand with air balancing. Once ionization is completed, it’s important to check air flow to ensure dampers are opened and ionization is maximized for optimal building readiness.
