WESTERN DIGITAL

Global storage-leader Western Digital partnered with Egan Company to deliver critical electrical systems for the 65,000-square-foot renovation of their manufacturing facility located on the former IBM campus in Rochester, Minn. The electrical scope of work included new distribution, lighting, lighting controls, and busway throughout the updated facility. Egan oversaw demolition of existing fiber and cabling across buildings 108, 111, and 114, followed by the installation of Cat6A cabling, rack fiber enclosures, and ladder trays along the ceiling. Additional low voltage upgrades included card access and card readers integrated into the existing infrastructure. To strengthen onsite security and connectivity, 39 new Axis security cameras were installed inside and outside the facility, and labs received new wireless access points (WAPs) and updated communications room equipment. Over 700 new Category 6A horizontal cables and more than 5,000K of new armored singlemode backbone fibers were installed across four buildings.
