SPECIALTIES FEATURED WITH THIS PROJECT:
Electrical // Fabrication
- The MnDOT Interstate 94 reconstruction project (Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis to Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center) was one of the Twin Cities’ major road improvement projects of 2017.
- Egan’s team was utilized for its electrical expertise by upgrading and moving nearly 800 light poles from the median to the shoulder along this nine-mile stretch of freeway.
- Over 150 miles of 240 480V copper wire was installed and roughly 1,000 light fixture whips were prefabricated in Egan’s shop. The team also built GPS models for all MnDOT as-builts -- logging over 8,000 GPS points for this project.
- Egan installed an anti-icing system along the curve on Interstate 94 and 694. This anti-icing system consists of “spray nozzles” along the pavement that spray de-icing chemicals onto the road dependent on air temperature and humidity levels.
- Aside from various ramp shutdowns, this heavily traveled interstate corridor remained open throughout the project. Additionally, over 15,000 hours were worked by Egan employees without a OSHA Recordable Loss-of-Time incident.
