Industrial Controls
- The Graham Ice Arena in Rochester, Minn. faced challenges maintaining consistent ice temperatures and operating its outdated, user-unfriendly refrigeration controls. Facility leaders turned to Egan for a more reliable and streamlined solution.
- In a collaborative effort, Egan Company’s Industrial Controls team oversaw a retrofit of the controls system, integrating its Refrigeration-IQ™ controls within the arena.
- The project included new drawings, updating all new wiring, and installing a new building management system (BMS).
- Egan also replaced the three stand alone cabinets with one large double door cabinet that combined all existing I/O points and added a 24” touchscreen HMI. The new cabinet enables the ice arena management team to see in-depth system features, including existing alarms, processes, loops, and temperatures.
- Smart pulsing compressors were integrated, helping find the sweet spot for temperature and pressure control.
- In addition to the large hardware and software upgrades, Egan overhauled the varying devices and systems and installed 18 new, uniform temperature transmitters.
- The Refrigeration-IQ™ Controls include remote access, enabling Egan’s team to connect to the system and help control and troubleshoot as necessary.
- Further features Egan installed include additional temperature alarming and Ethernet controls, putting more control and visibility into operators’ hands.
