In a Design/Build role, Egan Company completed three projects at a confidential food processing plant over a span of three years.
The plant’s facility required an upgraded ammonia refrigeration control system. Egan's scope of work included the controls design/engineering, programming, and electrical installation of an Egan ammonia controls system utilizing Rockwell hardware and software platforms that were spread out over the facility and consisted of 13 ammonia compressors and seven remote I/0 control panels built in Egan’s U.L. 508A Control Panel Shops. The system was designed and programmed to focus on energy savings.
Also in 2019, the plant constructed six new silos that hold food products, including a clean room that is frequently cleaned to ensure high food quality standards. To support the new silos, Egan completed wiring and installation of controls and power as well as a new electrical room with a 3000 amp electrical service, power distribution panels, and a motor control center for the silo motors.
In 2020, a newly constructed tanker bay building was built to unload tanker trucks full of products at the plant. Egan's team was responsible for wiring the base building, fire alarm, motor wiring, controls for the tanker unload system, controls for the CIP System, as well as the installation of a motor control center and the Arc Flash engineering for this project.
The conduit installed throughout the projects was stainless steel rigid conduit.
