SPECIALTIES FEATURED WITH THIS PROJECT:

Curtainwall, aluminum entrances, custom-fabricated glass with “hills and grass” accent features on the building facade

  • Avera on Louise is the first phase of a new 82-acre specialty care campus for the Avera Mckennan Hospital and the University Health Care System in Sioux Falls, SD.
  • The buildings were fitted with approximately 60,000 square feet of curtainwall, new aluminum entrances, and sliding automatic entrances.
  • The curtainwall was fabricated and assembled in the InterClad shop and erected/glazed in the field.
  • A unique feature of the campus is the custom fabricated “hills and grass” accent covers that were designed to simulate the hills and grass landscape of South Dakota.
  • The curved aluminum profiles were prefabricated in rolled aluminum sections that the field crews attached to the curtainwall brackets on site; this created a continuous curved accent across the building facade.
  • The five-story, 160,000 square foot orthopedic hospital on campus includes 24 inpatient beds, space for 24 future beds, GI procedure and clinic, six operating rooms (and space for two more), imaging, lab, pharmacy, dietary, administration, materials management, and central processing.
  • The campus also includes a three-story, 100,000 square foot medical office building for Rheumatology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, and physical therapy clinics.
